Did you know that all “UC Davis” clones originated from my mother plant? In 2012, I obtained an unnamed Cephalotus from a UC Davis Botanical Conservatory volunteer, and henceforth, named it my “UC Davis” plant. This is a well established crown division from the original Best In Show award winning plant. All plants at Deathalotus are growing under the following conditions:
Substrate: Growing in pH adjusted Grodan Grow Cubes (Rockwool) within a 2.63'' square by 3.5" deep plastic pot. More information about this substrate can be found here.
Water: Plants reside in nursery flats that are flooded with filtered snowmelt or rainwater 1/4-1/2” deep. The trays are then allowed to dry completely between watering cycles.
Light: Growing indoors under 5500-6500K full spectrum white LED lighting (12 HRS. NOV-JAN, 14 HRS. FEB-APR/AUG-OCT, 16 HRS. MAY-JUL).
Temperature: Temperatures fluctuate seasonally between ~60-72ºF (+/-3ºF) night and day.
Humidity: ~54-72% RH during summer months and ~18-27% RH during winter months.
Fertilizer: MaxSea Acid Formula Plant Food (~180ppm/gallon water) is fed 1-2x per month, both as a foliar feed to leaves/pitchers and as a drench to roots/substrate.
Dormancy: Slower growth/vigor observed during winter months (shorter light cycle/lower temps).
